A road leading to and from the M65 has been reopened after it was closed following a crash.
The Accrington Bypass/A56 southbound between the M65 junction 8 and the A679 for Huncoat shut closed both ways due to the incident this afternoon, Monday.
According to the AA website, traffic was coping well.
The incident was first reported around 4pm but it is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash, if anyone is injured, or the severity of the accident.
Posting on X , formerly known as Twitter, National Highways wrote: "The A56 southbound between M65 J8 and A679 Huncoat due to a collision. More information to follow."

At around 6.20pm National Highways confirmed the road had been reopened.
Police have been contacted for more information.
