Meet some of the babies born on Boxing Day at Burnley General Hospital.
A total of thirteen babies were born on Boxing Day on another very busy day for staff and teams at The Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre at Burnley General Hospital.
The centre caters for families across Lancashire, including those from Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
Nine girls and four boys were born throughout the day from 12.04am to 11.27pm.
The first baby born on Boxing Day was Ophelia Mei Lee. She was born to Ria Phillips of Rawtenstall and weighed 6lbs and 8oz.
Parents Ria and Waibun Lee said: “Ophelia was the best Christmas present and made an early appearance to the world on Boxing Day at 12.04 am.
“A massive thank you to all the staff at Burnley Birth Suite and on the postnatal ward. Their care and professionalism was truly outstanding.”
Natalie Jean Redmond came into the world just after 2am on Boxing Day.
Mum Radith of Rawtenstall said: “We thought Natalie would be a Christmas Day birth, but she held out until 2.29am on Boxing Day.
“Many thanks to the staff at Burnley who were very professional.”
Poppy Grace Hunday weighed 3lbs 15oz and was born at 6.20am.
Parents Nicola and Piers told us: “We would like to thank all the staff at Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre for their help and support.”
Another early morning birth was Ismaeel Ahmed who was born just before 8am.
Mum Suraiya Patel, of Blackburn, said: “Thank you to all staff on central birth suite in Burnley, a big thank you to midwife Serena.
“And a big thank you to all staff on post-natal ward. A huge thank you also to Sr Midwife Rabia.”
Ariella-Rose Hartley weighed 5lbs 15ozs when she born just after 11.30am.
Mum Brianne Ellerton of Nelson said: "We’d like to say a massive thank you to all the team at Burnley birth centre and postnatal ward, I definitely couldn’t of done it without them with me every step of the way.
"We are so in love with our beautiful princess, Christmas will never be the same for our family."
At 11.45am, Lauri Alderson of Barrowford gave birth to Stanley Joseph Hopkinson who weighed 7lbs 4ozs.
Laurie said: “We would like to thank Maddie our midwife and all the team at the Lancashire Women and Newborn centre for bring our newest addition in to the world.
“After my last traumatic experience with a preemie delivery this was perfect. Thank you so much.”
Later in the evening at 9.31pm, Tansy Wells of Bacup gave birth to Elliot Casey. Elliot weighed 5lbs 4ozs.
Anna Dixon gave birth to Isobel Violet Dixon (above) just after 11pm. She weighed 6lbs 13oz.
Anna and Gareth Dixon, from Blackburn, said: “We cannot thank all the staff enough for their professionalism, kindness and dedication to ensuring we (first time mummy and daddy) and Isobel were okay.
“Special shout out to Linzi, our midwife, who was simply amazing. My biggest cheerleader who made me feel like anything was possible!
"I’ll never forget my positive birth story and meeting our baby girl for the very first time.”
