Joyful parents were handed a very special present on Christmas Day.

A total of nine babies, two boys and seven girls were born throughout Christmas Day on Monday.

The first baby was born at 12.37am and a further six came into the world right up until midday during a very busy morning for nurses and staff.

Sanam Riaz gave birth to Ayzal Rani (below)at 12.37am. Ayzal weighed 7lbs 13oz and the first baby to be born on Christmas Day.

Lancashire Telegraph: The first baby to be born on Christmas Day was Ayzal Rani.

Mohammed Hassan Rashid was born just after 3am to Saira Arshad of Burnley. He weighed 7lb 10oz.

Ada Florence Hartlebury was born just before 5am to Kara Stacey of Dunsop Bridge, Clitheroe. Ada weighed 8lb 9oz.

Rowan Irene Ormerod weighed 8lbs 6oz when she was born just minutes after 10am to Nina Barlow of Colne.

Nina said: “We are over the moon with our little Christmas miracle.”

The final Christmas Day baby was Violet Joni Raynor-Quirk who was born to Chelsea Raynor of Blackburn just after 3pm. She weighed in 9lb 7oz.

Megan Higham was the proud mum to Freya Rae Gregson who weighed 6lb and 7oz and was born just after midday.

Megan and dad Ash said: “It was the most perfect Christmas gift to ever receive our perfect new addition Freya Rae we are completely and utterly in love.

“We can’t thank the midwives and staff at Burnley newborn centre enough for making our experience unforgettable. The care was outstanding.”

The babies were born at the Blackburn Birth Centre and the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre at Burnley General Hospital which caters for families across Lancashire.

Elsewhere across the country one couple celebrated twins on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Adeeqa Ali and her partner Faisal Imran from Livingston, Scotland, celebrated the arrival of baby boy Jami and twin sister Rumi were both born within an hour of each other. Remarkably though they will share different birthdays.

 Jami, who weighed in at 5lb 8oz, was born at 11.44pm on Christmas Eve, but his sister, tipping the scales at 4lb 2oz, was born almost one hour later at 12.27am on Christmas Day.
