Residents in one Lancashire town have taken it upon themselves to decorate a ‘lonely’ Christmas tree.
Rishton has three Christmas trees but one had not been decorated.
Undeterred locals have come together to decorate the tree with lights and baubles.
People of all ages have been flocking to the tree helping to make it the ‘best looking tree in Rishton’.
Pictures have been posted online which have encouraged more people to come forward.
One resident said: “This shouldn’t be down for the community but we’re not only filled with Christmas spirit we are filled with community spirit.
“I saw an elderly man adding baubles to tree and decided to add the lights and since then people from the community have added towards making it the best-looking tree in Rishton.”
In November, a row broke out after Hyndburn Council failed to light up one of Rishton's festive firs when scheduled.
But the switch on failed to happen, angering the township's councillors and disappointing a crowd of 300 people.
But later it was confirmed that in Rishton two trees would be lit up for Christmas and there would be a separate switch on for the area. The third tree though would remain unlit.
