The M61 southbound is closed after a crash.

According to AA Traffic and Travel, traffic is building between junction 30 of the M6 to junction nine of the M65.

Currently, there are delays of five minutes, which are increasing. Average speed is 15mph.

The police has been approached for more information

A spokesperson for AA Traffic and Travel said: “Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to crash on M61 southbound from M6 junction 30 to junction nine of the M65 (Clayton Brook).

“Delays of five minutes and delays increasing on M6 Southbound between junction 31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury) and junction 30 M61. Average speed 15 mph.”

In an update, issued at around 10am, National Highways warned of 75 minute delays and said a section of the M61 is closed.

A spokesperson said: "The M61 is closed southbound between the M6 near Bamber Bridge and junction nine on the M65 due to a collision.

"There are currently long delays of at least 75 mins on the M6 south between junction 32 and junction 31a. More information to follow."
