The motorway was closed overnight due to a crash on the M61.
Police closed the M61 northbound carriageway from junction 6 to junction 8 late last night (December 12).
The closure was in place due to a crash on the M61. It is unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crash and if anyone was injured.
The motorway fully reopened at around 6am this morning.
A statement shared by police last night said: “Good evening all, please be aware the M61 motorway is currently closed at Junctions 6 to 8 on the Northbound carriageway due to a Road Traffic Collision.
“Please find an alternative route where possible.”
Police have been contacted for more information.
