An Airbnb owner in the Ribble Valley has been named as the ‘best room host’ in the UK in this year’s awards.
As 2023 draws to a close, Airbnb has revealed the UK’s top hosts, to recognise and celebrate the best hosts who make a positive impact on their local communities.
Hodder Bridge Court near Clitheroe won ‘Best Room Host’ for 2023, which is a new category that was introduced in this year’s awards.
Laura's Airbnb, nestled in the heart of the Ribble Valley, has been described by the judges as an "ideal retreat for people looking for a quiet weekend away, visiting the area for a special occasion or who generally just love the great outdoors."
The judges said: “Guests can enjoy a restful stay in style thanks to Laura’s eye for design and detail, which radiates throughout her home.”
The home, which was part of a former Lancashire pub, provides three king size bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and two with access to a main bathroom.
Laura said: “The Ribble Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty and we have the privilege of living here.
"My husband and I both lead very busy lives so we are out a lot of the time, but we are home most evenings.
“We would be here to welcome you, make you feel comfortable and also explain the ins and outs.
"We are very friendly and approachable and happy to answer any queries or questions.”
Speaking about winning the award, Laura said: "I have been a host for the last five years.
"I’m a people person and really enjoy chatting to people from all walks of life.
"We’ve met some lovely people along the way. I really just enjoy people sharing our home."
Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: "We are delighted to recognise Hosts in the Airbnb community for their hospitality and dedication to the Hosting community.
“It is uplifting to see the huge dedication put into each listing which truly offers each and every guest a unique experience."
