Rovers will be celebrating the work of their Community Trust at this weekend’s game at home to Leeds United.
This will be the second time in 2023 the club has dedicated one of the fixtures to highlight the work of Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRCT).
‘Community Day’, will see various participants from the 42 projects the charity run in attendance.
Rovers take on promotion contenders Leeds looking to avenge last week's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, while the Peacocks are unbeaten in six.
The charity’s regular matchday activities will also in operation, such as Strikers’ Lounge and the Game Room.
Rovers’ players will walk out of the tunnel before kick-off wearing Community Trust t-shirts, whilst head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson, his coaching staff and senior management at the club will wear BRCT pin badges at the game.
The guard of honour will consist of Community Trust participants, alongside a local grassroots team, and throughout the game, several case studies will appear on the big screen to demonstrate how the charity has made an impact on individual people’s lives.
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust CEO, Gary Robinson, said; “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Blackburn Rovers for designating this season’s Community Day to the Leeds United fixture.
“There will be a large crowd in attendance, and a fantastic opportunity for our hard working staff and participants to tell their stories with the aim to continue to raise the charity’s profile.
“Each season, our dedicated community themed matchday plays an important part in our seasonal calendar. We were privileged to have been given the opportunity to do this last season at the East Lancashire derby against Burnley, and once again we are privileged to be given the same platform at another high profile league fixture.
“Community Day provides us not only with the chance to raise vital funds for the wide range of projects and programmes our dedicated team run daily, but it also puts the charity in the spotlight to showcase the work we do across the region.
“I’d also like to pay thanks to Blackburn Rovers Football Club for once again showing support towards the work we do and this activation demonstrates how we are a community-driven football club based within the heart of Blackburn and Darwen.”
