New illuminated signs have been approved for the Blackburn Rovers Indoor Training Centre at Ewood Park.
Blackburn with Darwen Council has granted permission for the installation of LED strip light illuminated signage.
A report recommending approva by planning officer Tom Wiggans says: "The application site relates to Blackburn Rovers Training Centre, Ewood Park, and the application has been submitted by the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.
"Advertisement consent is sought for the erection of LED strip light illuminated signage for the 'Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre' facility.
"The proposed signage comprises a total of seven signs on two buildings.
"The proposed signs are to be a mix of internal and external illumination. All the signs would be static.
""The design, lettering and colouring of the proposed adverts would be in keeping with the current corporate branding of Blackburn Rovers FC.
"The proposed signage attached to the buildings is not considered to be overly dominant and is considered appropriate in terms of siting, size and scale.
"The proposed signs would not result in cluttering of the area or excessive advertising, and would be in keeping with the buildings on which they would be displayed.
"The proposal would not be to the detriment of the character and appearance of the buildings or their setting.
"The only sign that would give rise to any concern relating to the amenity of local residents would be sign seven, which would be positioned opposite the gable end of the terrace of properties (Top o’th Croft).
"There are some windows in the side elevation/two storey annexe of 17 Top o’th Croft.
"The sign would also be visible from the rear elevations of properties on Stewart Street.
"Notwithstanding the above, it is not considered that there would be any unacceptable detrimental impact on amenity.
"The Fascia Sign would be a thin strip above the doorway and would be static illuminated (external LED lighting with a downlight strip).
"The window in the side elevation of the house is not a habitable room window and given the small size and scale of the signage, the type and method of illumination, and the distance, proximity and angle to the windows of other properties does not give rise to any material amenity concerns.
"The signs would not be positioned close to a busy junction or traffic signals, etc and they would not distract or obscure the attention of highway users, posing no material risk or hazard to drivers."
