Temperatures in Blackburn and other parts of Lancashire are set to plummet this weekend as an ‘arctic blast’ sweeps across the UK.
After a very wet but relatively mild autumn, temperatures are predicted to drop to -2°C on Friday, November 24, and -1°C on Saturday, in Blackburn.
It’s a similar picture in other parts of East Lancashire. The cold temperatures are set to be accompanied by a mixture of cloudy and sunny skies.
The forecast has also predicted a frosty Saturday morning.
The UK will also be affected by the cold snap, including Scotland where “wintry showers” have been forecast.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “It is a blustery start with some clouds towards the west in the morning.
“Turning very bright with plenty of sunny spells into the afternoon but feeling cold with fresh northerly winds easing. Maximum temperature 6°C.
“There is set to be a widespread frost through Saturday morning but staying largely dry with some sunshine at times.
“Frost returning overnight into Sunday but cloud and rain moving in from the west.”
