A Darwen based band combining power pop, rock & roll, country and soul, completed their debut gig at Sunbird Records, at The Circus, last weekend.

Pretty Shivers are a band composed of sibling songwriting duo Rory and Miranda Myles, vocals and guitar, Annika Harwood, bass, Mark Bateson, lead guitar, and Toby Brown, drums.

On Saturday, November 11, the band played their debut gig at Sunbird Records Darwen.

Their music influences include: Fleetwood Mac, Heart, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones & Blondie.

The band wrote on their Facebook page: "Wow! What a night we had for our debut gig.

"Thank you to everyone that came down on Saturday and danced the night away. You made it such an unforgettable night!  We hope you loved it as much as we did.

"Big shouts to all the Sunbird Records staff and Paddy for the sound.

"Bring on the next one!"

Musical legend Gloria Jones, writer of Tainted Love, was recently in Darwen to record a documentary about her ex-husband Marc Bolan, frontman of 1970's rock band T-Rex.

Gloria came down to watch the band rehearse at The Darwen School of Music, run by guitarist Mark and Paul Stuart Davies.

Lancashire Telegraph: She described Pretty Shivers as 'the band the world needs', which vocalist Rory said was 'a huge source of inspiration and wisdom for them.'

He also said: "The night was one of the busiest that the town has seen all year, with little room to move.

"It was a cracking do and a massive thank you to everyone who came."

The band now aims to tour the UK and make their mark on the music scene.

Their debut single: 'Running Away' is due to be released early 2024, where the video for the single was shot at the Halo, Haslingden.

The band will be performing a festive show at the Sound Lounge, Darwen, on December 23.

The show will be free entry.
