National Highways have issued an amber severe weather alert for gales in the North West region of the country for tomorrow, Monday, from 9am until 4pm.
Road users in the North West region of England are advised to check ahead and plan for disruption to their journeys.
Storm Debi is expected to develop over Ireland overnight before moving east across the far north of the network tomorrow morning.
The Met Office has also issued a warning that includes a danger to life risk, with extreme weather set to affect most of the region.
Storm Debi is set to bring torrential rain and winds of up to 70mph across the north of England, with the Met Office warning it brings a danger to life.
In issuing the yellow alert, the Met Office also added that 'injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties'.
This storm will bring a period of very strong winds across Lancashire, in particular the M62, M6, M61, M65 and A628 trans-Pennine routes.
Winds within this area will widely gust 50-60 mph with 60-70 mph gusts on routes to the west of the M6 and over the Pennines with occasional outbreaks of heavy rain exacerbating the difficult driving conditions.
There is a particularly high risk that high-sided vehicles and other 'vulnerable' vehicles such as caravans and motorbikes could be blown over.
The public is advised to take extra care, further information and with advice can be found from the Met Office.
