A developer is on the way to building 152 new homes across two sites in Lancashire.

Story Homes has begun building 34 new properties in Longton after purchasing land at Reynard Close and receiving planning permission from South Ribble Borough Council in July.

Groundworks have started at the site, which has been named Longton Grange, with the properties to include a range of one to six-bedroom homes, featuring a high specification and internal layouts that offer modern, open plan living spaces and exterior details that create unique street scenes.

Thirty per cent of the homes will be affordable, and the developer will pay more than £50,000 towards the provision of improved public open space within Longton, as well as £480,000 in Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

Adam Galleymore, operations director for Story Homes North West, said: “We’re delighted to have begun works on our 34-home development in Longton which will make an important contribution towards local housing delivery, including the provision of new affordable homes.

"The team has worked hard, and to go from exchanging contracts and submitting a planning application in November 2022, to completing the purchase and starting work on site in August 2023 is exceptional.”

The housebuilder is also progressing plans for a proposed residential development of 118 homes on land adjacent to Blainscough Hall in Coppull.

Following the approval of outline planning permission in February 2022, Story Homes recently submitted a reserved matters application to Chorley Council, which includes a mix of one to five-bedroom high quality new homes, with 30 per cent of the properties being affordable.

While significant areas of public open space will be created within the development, the housebuilder will also pay more than £200,000 towards the provision of improved public open space within Coppull.

In addition, Story Homes will contribute £320,000 towards increasing secondary education capacity in the local area and will pay over £1.2m in CIL.

Martin Nugent, head of land and planning for Story Homes North West said: “We’re excited to be progressing detailed plans for a proposed residential development of 118 homes on land we’ve purchased in Coppull.

"We’ve worked hard to design the kind of high-quality scheme for which Story Homes is renowned. Our plans were submitted last month, and we look forward to receiving a decision from Chorley Council in due course.”

Story Homes anticipates that the first homes in Longton will be released for sale in spring 2024 and anticipates a planning decision on Coppull early in 2024.
