A church hall is hosting free weekly ‘warm space’ events for residents in a Blackburn neighbourhood.

St Luke's Church has recently launched their Community Warm Space sessions in the brand-new building behind St Lukes Blackburn on Bank Top.

These will take place every Monday from noon till 2pm.

The Warm Space events are open to everyone and people to enjoy a brew, biscuits and cake, while keeping warm as temperatures drop and the ongoing cost of living crisis makes it tough for people to heat their homes.

Volunteers will also be on hand to offer a variety of soups and fresh bread rolls each week.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Hannah McVerry is helping to host the sessions said she wanted to encourage people across the area to come to the sessions.

She said: “This space is open every Monday and people can arrive at anytime throughout the two hours.

“St Lukes work with some niche groups; vulnerable women, persons in recovery and rehabilitation, and the elderly and our vision is to host additional times to open the warm space for these specific communities to enjoy, where they can also tap into additional services and support."

Hannah added: “We are welcoming people to come down for a cuppa, enjoy some delicious soup and relax in the beautiful, comfortable space.

"St Luke's Hall is situated around the rear of the main church building, and there are A-Boards outside to guide you. A friendly welcome awaits for all.”

The church, which underwent a dramatic £1.4 million transformation, officially reopened to the public in September.

The main church building has been redecorated and a new-church hall was built which has already been nominated for two architectural awards.
