*UPDATE: The disruption caused by heavy rain flooding the railway between Blackburn and Clitheroe has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem.*
Rail lines between Blackburn and Clitheroe are blocked due to flooding. Flood alerts have also been issued for parts of the county.
All lines between Blackburn and Clitheroe are blocked and Network Rail is working to inspect the railway.
Rail replacement transport has been organised for travellers who were set to depart from from Clitheroe calling at Whalley, Langho, Ramsgreave, Wilpshire and Blackburn
Flood alerts have also been issued for parts of Lancashire.
The flood alert area covers the River Lostock and the River Yarrow and other watercourses from Whittle-Le-Woods and Chorley to Croston including Leyland, Coppull, Eccleston, Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge.
The public has been advised to avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
A spokesperson for Northern said: “There is heavy rain flooding the railway between Blackburn and Clitheroe and all lines are blocked.
“Network Rail are aware of the incident and are on route to inspect the railway.”
A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said: “There is an active flood alert in Lancashire for the River Lostock and the River Yarrow.
“Please don't drive or walk through flood water as you may become stranded.”
