A spectacular fireworks display and bonfire at a cricket club attracted more than 2,000 visitors from across the borough.

The annual family event at East Lancs Cricket Club on Dukes Brow on Saturday night was organised by members of the Royal British Legion.

As well as fairground rides, food and drinks at the bar, the evening ended with a breathtaking firework display.

Money raised on the night went towards the Poppy Appeal and the Fire Fighters charity.

The wet weather did not put off people turning out to support the good causes and organisers managed to stave off any long queues by opening two entrances to the venue. Volunteers from the Royal British Legion worked throughout the evening marshalling crowds.
