People queued around the building to be one of the first 500 customers through the doors of a new restaurant.

Tribez Steak Grill, a halal South African cuisine restaurant, opened its first branch in 2018, with its third branch opening at Peel Leisure and Retail Park today (October 21).

The store is located at Blackburn Vue Cinema, opposite Nandos, which was formerly taken up by Jimmy’s Killer Prawns.

To celebrate the opening, the first 500 customers were offered free meals, including lamb chops, peri winglets, and crispy chips.

The first person in the queue was seven-year-old Haniya Parvez, who got to the restaurant at around 11.20am. Crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service even turned up for their lunch.

Owner Salim Randera was joined by family and staff as they cut the ribbon to cheers from the crowds.

He said: “We have been overwhelmed with the response. As you can see there are queues going right out of the complex.

“We are delighted to be finally opening and bringing our brand of South African cuisine to Blackburn.

“We would like to thank everyone for coming and helping to make this one of our biggest openings.”
