A man from East Lancashire has transformed a family tragedy into a thoughtful gifting business, which is on a mission to share surprise and gratitude with its customers.
Oliver Peck started The Oh! Gifting Company after a house-fire at his home in Rossendale destroyed all of his possessions and left him and his family without the basic necessities.
Inspired by the care packages and gifts that Oliver’s friends and family sent, he was inspired to continue the sentiment and create a business that made others feel just as cared for as Oliver and his family did.
Oliver said: “I’ve always loved gifting people for birthdays, Christmases - I’m always there with a gift bag and a smile - and how it creates a warm, fuzzy feeling.
“After the fire in February of this year, we were left with nothing. Our home, clothes, and memories were all destroyed.
“People were kind enough to support us with gifts of clothes, food, toys for my children - and every time I opened a package, I would always say ‘oh’.
“I wanted to give people the same ‘oh’ reaction and feeling as when I received gifts.”
Shortly after the house fire, Oliver was left looking for alternative work, and decided to take the plunge and create The Oh! Gifting Company.
Oliver went on: “I believe everything happens for a reason, but out of the disaster came the inspiration to set up a business that, when someone opens one of our gift boxes, they feel happiness, delight, and that important ‘oh’ moment.
“The gifts The Oh! Gifting Company sells are an accumulation of things I love, and products I’ve found helpful with the healing journey over the past few months. I hope people enjoy them as much as we do.”
The OH! Gifting Company sells everything from candles to food hampers, notebooks to chocolate and fudge.
Oliver has also made sure his gifts give back to the planet, and uses sustainable sourced, independently made products that support small businesses like his.
