A husband and wife duo have opened the doors to their newly refurbished gift shop.
John and Su Brown-Kenna have opened Old Rock Home and Gift shop in Trawden.
The new shop is perfectly located just a short stroll from John and Su’s home, in a village made famous for its dedicated community - who own the pub, the library, post office and community centre.
Su, who is half Turkish, already had an online shop, Kargi Bay Ceramics, selling handmade Turkish gifts, but decided to take the next step.
She said: “It made sense to have a physical location and when we saw the shop, we just knew it was the ideal setting.
"We love living in this beautiful area, there is so much gorgeous countryside on our doorstep and the short time we have been open, we have had incredible support from the local community.”
Soon to also be launching online, the shop houses an array of handpicked clothes, gifts, and ceramics, that will add a touch of elegance and style to any home.
Su went on: “We have always appreciated the power of thoughtful gifts.
"Whether it was a handmade card or a small, carefully chosen present, these gestures have the remarkable ability to strengthen relationships, make cherished memories, and create lasting bonds. This realisation planted the seed for our entrepreneurial journey.”
Next door to their shop is the Old Rock Café and Cake shop owned by mother and daughter team Jackie and Francesca Stansfield.
The café serves a comprehensive breakfast and lunch menu, delicious home-made cakes, and an excellent cup of coffee.
Together the two shops work well as a great destination for friends and families to meet up and grab a slice of rural Lancashire life at its best.
A welcome rest stop for walkers, cyclists, and day trippers alike, Francesca, who calls it ‘The Café of Dreams’, said; "It has been quite a journey to get here, but since opening we have been an instant hit within the village.
"We frequently see customers travelling from all over the county to get their café fix.”
Christmas will be coming soon to the Old Rock Home and Gift Shop and customers are encouraged to check out social media for a preview evening, which will be the first of the store's exciting events.
Customers will be able to enjoy a first look at the Christmas displays and beautiful gifts, while enjoying a glass of fizz and nibbles.
With more days to shop and extended hours to help people find that perfect present, it’s not to be missed.
