The Mayor of an East Lancashire town has invited residents to attend an upcoming awards evening which will support a campaign to save the area’s swimming pool.
The Mayor of Whitworth Councillor Mike Royds and his wife the Mayoress are inviting people to attend the Whitworth Business and Community Awards at The Ashcroft Civic Hall.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 28, starting at 7pm, with live musical entertainment, and will honour businesses and members of the community who have excelled this year.
The Mayor said: “I have been inspired by the community and local businesses for the way they have helped each other during some difficult times in recent years, which really does show what can be achieved by working together.”
Performing will be local singer Victoria Sladen, with Chris Bitten the master of ceremonies.
Tickets for the event cost £12 per person, or £8 for children aged 10and under, and can be bought from Whitworth Town Council’s offices at The Ashcroft in Market Street.
Proceeds from the event will be split equally between the Mayor’s Charity fund and the Save Whitworth Pool campaign.
