A taxi firm in Burnley said they have enjoyed a business boost after unveiling a mural to football club manager Vincent Kompany.
Kings Taxi in Yorkshire Street has worked with artist Jamie Buckley to create the giant mural, which has been painted on the side of the building.
The mural features Burnley FC manager Vincent Kompany and the football club’s emblem, honouring the Belgian's so far successful stint as Clarets manager, securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Omar Zaman, who has been in charge of the company since August, said he wanted to commemorate the club for all of the work they do for the community.
He said: “We did it for the love of the club and Burnley. Since Vincent Kompany came in, the whole town has been uplifted.
“I am a big football fan. My brother had always decorated the business with the claret and blue when he was in charge.
“Jamie is quite talented and has done some other murals in the area. I approached him and told him my vision before coming up with this design.
“Jamie is the brilliant artist behind the Claret mural at The Turf pub and Liam Gallagher in Penny Black's beer garden.”
Omar said he is proud of the finished mural, which took five days to complete, despite jokes he is getting from some friends.
He said: “A lot of money is being invested into Burnley at the minute so I thought I could do something on my wall which is when I settled on the mural.
“Friends have been having little digs at me, joking that Vincent will be gone by Christmas – but you have to have that belief in him.
“Burnley does a lot in the community and people from all backgrounds seem to have an interest in the club.”
Omar said the mural has been a boost for business since its completion at the end of August.
He said: “Since Vincent took over our work has been positively impacted.
“Calls have been on the increase, especially on match days because full stadiums of people are attending the home games.
“We have noticed a slight boost in business since the mural has been completed. A lot of people have been ringing us up and having a chat about it when ordering taxis.
“It is also nice when they chat with drivers about it in the car.
“People have been coming into the office and asking if it is okay to take pictures next to it.”
Omar hopes the mural adds “more colour and pride” to the town
He said: “We've been proudly serving the Burnley community for more than 40 years, and we’re not stopping anytime soon!
“This mural is our way of giving back and adding some more color and pride to this wonderful town.
“We invite you all to come take a look and maybe even snap a selfie with Vincent Kompany on our wall.”
They will be hoping the business boost is reflected on the pitch as the Clarets have experienced a tough return the Premier League; winless after four games, they sit second bottom with just one point after Monday night's draw at Nottingham Forest.
