A self-taught DJ who was paralysed in an accident is gearing up to put on an 80s night with his pal.
Rossendale-born and bred Neil Catlow and Dino Corse grew up immersed in the music scene in and around the Burnley, Accrington and Manchester areas.
Neil was paralysed in a motocross accident 16 years ago, but after the confinement endured during the Covid pandemic, both Dino and Neil were keen to embrace life and music once restrictions were lifted.
The club scene re-ignited a long-held ambition of Neil’s to DJ so, with Dino’s encouragement, he bought himself a set of decks.
Completely self-taught, within six months Neil went from struggling to turn the thing on to having his mixes spotted and played on online radio stations both in the UK and abroad.
Keen to get to the next stage and play live gigs, Neil encountered his first barriers in the music industry - despite a lot of talk and promises, the live gigs were not forthcoming.
This prompted the intrepid duo to set up their own gigs. After the success of their first two events, Neil and Dino were keen to try something a little different and are pleased to announce their third event: Back to the 80s Party Night. This event is aimed at the over 25s.
With a focus on local talent, Neil and Dino have secured Danni Britch ‘Making it Madonna’ as their headline act. Danni has created an energetic, unique and very 80s tribute act concentrating on the early career of the Queen of Pop.
The talented piano playing and singing double act that is the Lomax Brothers will be tinkling the ivories and infecting us all with the sheer joy and enthusiasm that they exude with their spirited set and effortless, easy-going stage presence – the brothers have been performing together since childhood.
Neil Catlow, AKA DJ Cat, will be DJ’ing alongside DJ Bam Bam, who played at Neil and Dino’s first two events.
Neil and Dino have secured Antonella Brollini (AKA Aunty Nelly) to host the event. Antonella found fame on social media by being herself! With 1.4 million followers, Antonella applies her no-nonsense, practical and honest approach to her product reviews and these same attributes make her a natural agony aunt.
She has become quite a local celebrity and is known nationally and internationally with TV appearances on programmes including Steph's Packed Lunch and This Morning.
Tickets for Back to the 80s Party Night on Saturday September 23 at Hidden, Burnley, from 8pm to 2am, can be purchased for £10 via Skiddle or on the door. Ticket holders must be aged 25 or older.
