Bury Transport Museum took delivery of one of the largest express engines ever built in Britain.
In 1982, the Tay Valley, which once pulled both the Golden Arrow and Brighton Belle had been saved from the scrap heap by a collector who had sent it to Bury for a full restoration.
The 100-ton loco had been discovered in a scrap yard in South Wales.
