Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has backed a campaign which aims to showcase British farmers and growers.
'Back British Farming Day' celebrates environmentally friendly, and nutritious food farmers produce for the country.
To mark the day (Wednesday 13 September) the National Farmers Union (NFU) brought together Members of Parliament to show their support.
Mr Evans said: “I’m proud to support Back British Farming Day to show my support for the farmers and growers in the Ribble Valley who do a fantastic job in providing our local area along with the rest of the nation with high-quality food, all while caring for our much-loved countryside.
“As a food-loving nation, the work our farmers do not only provides a foundation for the country’s food and drink sector, but contributes significantly to our local and national economy.
"With the food and farming industry now worth more than £127 billion to the British economy and employing over 4 million people nationwide.
“I welcome the news that the British people clearly recognise and value the work of our farmers too, a recent NFU survey found that the public rank farming as one of the most favourable occupations, second only to nursing."
