This photo shows an historic East Lancashire hall which had a fascinating history. The picture was taken around 1900 and shows Bolton Hall at Bolton-by-Bolton in the Ribble Valley.
The original hall was built in 1229 and was set in a 2,000 acre estate. From the 14th century, the hall was in the hands of the Pudsay family until 1771.
Henry VI lived at the hall for a year following his defeat at the Battle of Hexham during the War of the Roses.
The hall was demolished in 1958
