Nominations have opened for a prestigious Blackburn with Darwen community awards.

The 1V Awards Dinner, run by charity One Voice will take place on Saturday, February 17, at King George's Hall in Blackburn.

The event is being supported by Together Housing Association and Newground Together, and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

The awards celebrate the success of volunteers, community groups, charities and local people.  The closing date for nominations is November 17.

There are eight awards presented on the evening including The Aya Hachem Young Person of the Year; Group of the Year sponsored by Blackburn Youth Zone; 1V Man of the Year sponsored by Reel Cinema Blackburn; 1V Woman of the Year sponsored by Lancashire Mind and the 1V Health Award sponsored by Spring North.

A new award for 2024, the 1V Apprentice of the Year is supported by Electricity North West.

The John Roberts Outstanding Achievement Award winner is selected by the trustees of One Voice Blackburn.
