A town centre was packed with hundreds of car enthusiasts at the weekend as an annual car show returned.

Burnley Vintage and Performance Car show took place on Saturday (September 9) as the high-value cars, motorbikes and campervans lined St James’ Street and Curzon Street.

A host of other activities were on offer, including a brass band providing a musical backdrop and a car-themed trail where there was a prize for everyone who took part.

The free-to-attend event ran from 11am to 4pm and was organised by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID) with support from The Rotary Club of Burnley.

Hoards of people from across Lancashire descended on the town to view the impressive machines and speak to their owners.

Jane Hough, from Burnley BID, said: “It’s been a fabulous day. From half-past-ten this morning we’ve had a really busy day in the town centre, with different people coming in to experience Burnley.

“This is all about a partnership approach, so it’s about the business community working alongside the Rotary Club to bring the event to the town centre.

“This is about supporting the businesses within the town to increase footfall, get people to dwell more, come and spend in the shops, and have a bite to eat in one of the local cafes or restaurants.

“People seem to have really enjoyed it. It’s quite a unique event, we’ve had families coming in, we’ve had people from further afield coming in, not just from Burnley. It’s been a great time.”
