Police seized an e-bike after the owner was caught riding it without insurance or a licence, in Hapton.
PC Butterworth was on patrol in Hapton dealing with a separate incident when he noticed a young man riding a Surron battery powered bike.
He attempted to evade police but was located a short distance away.
Police discovered that he was riding the bike without a licence or insurance, which is required by law.
The bike was seized by police.
Officers have now issued a reminded to owners of battery operated bikes that they need a licence and insurance to drive them.
A police spokesperson said: “Today PC Butterworth 5765 was on patrol in Hapton and while dealing with a separate incident, he noticed a young male riding a Surron battery powered bike.
“The young male didn't want to stick around and he was soon located a short distance away.
“No driving licence and no insurance means this bike was seized under a s165 Road Traffic Act.
“We would like to remind you that riding this type of bike requires a driving licence and insurance, therefore this will not be tolerated and positive action will be taken.
“You can help us by letting us know about anti-social behaviour which might be happening where you live.”
