A 10-year-old boy is raising funds for Rossendale Radio Station by completing a three mile walk.

James Partington-Duerden's 'favourite community radio station' relies on community funding and are a complete non-for-profit organisation.

To celebrate his 11th birthday, James is walking from Waterfoot to Rawtenstall station on Saturday, October 21.

He will be stopping off at the Buffers at East Lancs Railway for a drink and packet of crisps, as it is one of his favourite places to go to.

James has Down's Syndrome, ADHD, is on the Autistic spectrum and is non-verbal, but does not let this stop him, making his parents, older brother, and everyone at the radio very proud of him.

His mother and radio presenter and volunteer, Dorrie Partington, said: "We rely on community funding and advertising so every penny that comes into the station goes back into keeping us on air.

"James' efforts last year were a huge help, so he decided to do it again this year. He loves the walk and meeting animals on the way.

"Although he's nearly 11 he's mentally a lot younger so he loves being outside.

"Everything with James is a habit, so he may meet a few challenges along the way if he doesn't fancy going a certain route on the day, he may want to go to ASDA for his lunch at the end."

His favourite song is Uptown Funk, and Rossendale Radio Station will support James by playing the song and going live on Facebook on the day.

James raised £3,000 last year with a sponsored walk, just short of a months bills for the station and would love to smash his target and do the same again this year.

If you see James and his carer on his three mile walk, people are welcome to say hi and he will give you a smile and a high five, as he loves a round of applause and seeig people's dogs.

James, a pupil at Tor View School at Haslingden, added: "Rossendale Radio do so much for us in the community and I want to give something back.

"I can't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday and I hope you can help.

"Wish me luck and thank you in advance for your kindness and well wishes.

"All my love, chuckles, sloppy kisses and high fives."
