Police who responded to a report of an ongoing burglary discovered the remnants of a cannabis farm.

Blackburn magistrates heard Levi Antony Broadbent was found at the property in possession of 34 grams of cannabis.

Broadbent, 20, of Keighley Avenue, Colne, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 15 rehabilitation activity says and 80 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

Peter Bardsley, prosecuting, said the Crown accepted the guilty plea on the basis that Broadbent was only selling cannabis to friends.

He said police went to an address in Clapham Street, Burnley, after a neighbour reported a burglary in progress.

They found Broadbent in the house where cannabis had just been cropped.

He said the cannabis recovered by the police had a value of £360.

David Lawson, in mitigation, said his client accepted selling cannabis to friends to fund his own drug use.
