The vehicles are being prepared for the starting grid of a major motoring exhibition expected to bring hundreds of enthusiasts into an East Lancashire town centre this weekend.

This year’s Vintage and Performance Car Show will take place in Burnley on Saturday.

Classic cars and vehicles from yesteryear are set to line St James’s Street all the way down to Curzon Street.

The day is not just for car enthusiasts as there are a host of other activities planned.

A brass band will provide a musical backdrop, and there’s a car-themed trail – featuring a prize for every participant - aimed at would-be detectives.

Running from 11am to 4pm, the event is organised by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID) with support from The Rotary Club of Burnley.

Saturday's event is set to build on the success of last year’s event, when crowds of people from all over Lancashire descended on the town to check out the various machines on display.

BID board member Gordon Salthouse cannot wait to see Burnley come alive once more with iconic cars from years gone by.

He said: “With so much to see and do throughout the day for people of all ages, it’s the perfect family event.

"The vehicles set to appear this year are sure to capture the imagination too, and the best part is that the event is completely free to attend.

“So why not put Saturday 9th September in your diary, and come along for a revved up day of fun!”
