An East Lancashire trainer designer has teamed up with a Britpop legend once more to launch a new product.
Just over a year on from the first LG2 SPZL launch in 2022, Adidas Spezial and Liam Gallagher have come together again to unveil a new colour scheme of the iconic trainer.
The third shoe that Adidas and the former Oasis frontman have collaborated on comes out following Gallagher's new live album from his Knebworth show last summer, it's said to celebrate the brand's heritage and Gallagher's "musical legacy".
The new trainers are white with green stripes, which "pays homage to early iterations of the adidas Country".
The adidas Spezial was designed by Gary Aspden from Darwen who began collaborating with Adidas in the 1990s.
Adidas said: "A fitting successor to the revered LG SPZL trainer, the LG2 SPZL silhouette itself offers nods to a number of different historical adidas footwear references and was designed with direct input from Liam himself – featuring the artist’s instantly recognisable portrait on the tongue.
"Blending the timeless elegance of classic archival styles with Liam's inimitable perspective, the latest colourway of the LG2 SPZL launches on September 8 and is available via Confirmed and all adidas Spezial stockists."
Last year, Liam Gallagher and adidas launched a special pair of Spezials in combination with a fundraising gig the former Oasis star played at King George's Hall on April 27 in aid of Blackburn homeless charity, Nightsafe.
A lifelong fan of adidas, Liam Gallagher has worn brand throughout his career, nurturing a close friendship with Spezial founder, Gary Aspden, along the way.
Darwen-born brand expert Gary, is known for his in-depth knowledge of adidas and his vast vintage adidas archive.
His work is based in London, but he spends much of his time in Lancashire which he cites as his biggest source of inspiration.
