An investigation has been launched after a train guard was assaulted by a man who was "likely returning from Leeds Festival".
On Monday (August 28) a group of four males boarded the train at Carnforth and the guard went to check their tickets, but he received abuse from one before being hit across the face.
The group left the train at Arnside, in Cumbria, while the guard was put off at Silverdale.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "On Monday, four males, likely returning from Leeds Festival, boarded a train at Carnforth.
"The guard went to check tickets, but reveived abuse from one who then struck him across the face.
"He was put off at Silverdale and the others left at Arnside. Investigation ongoing."
