People across East Lancashire are preparing for a jam-packed fun bank holiday weekend but, unsurprisingly, the weather doesn't look like it's on our side.
From blues and rock music festivals and outdoor theatre performances to craft markets, gravy wrestling and canal festivals, most of these events are taking place outside this weekend so it’s vital to prepare.
It’s been a wet summer throughout August and that isn’t changing this weekend with misty skies and ‘overcast changing to light showers by lunchtime’.
Speaking about the weather for Lancashire, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: “A day of sunshine and showers, these heaviest and most numerous through the middle of the day, with a chance of thunder.
“Some coastal areas staying somewhat drier. Rather cool for late August, but feeling quite warm in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 18 degrees.
“Showers easing this evening giving a dry end to the day in places. Many areas dry overnight but some showers remain possible in coastal regions. Turning cool inland. Minimum temperature 11 degrees.”
Wind speeds of up to 22mph are set for Blackburn with Darwen today but luckily Rockfest is taking place at King George’s Hall so attendees are sheltered from the gusty windy and light showers.
Tomorrow (August 27), there will continue to be scattered showers with wind speeds of 24mph in Blackburn with Darwen.
Amazing Accrington Soapbox Challenge is another event taking place today which is free to enter.
There’s also Lowther Pavilion World Food & Drink Festival, Lytham which is on from today to Monday, August 28 where you can enjoy mouthwatering treats from a huge range of stalls as well as free family entertainment.
Monster Takeover, Affinity Lancashire in Fleetwood, taking place until August 28 is a great event for the kids and there’s an opportunity to meet the monsters and join in the monster crafts today.
