The owner of a West Pennine moorland farm proposes to build an agricultural building on his land.
Paul Holt of 'On The Edge', Broadhead Road, Turton, wants the shed to store equipment to maintain his pasture and meadows.
A supporting statement with his planning application to Blackburn with Darwen Council says: "The property is located on Broadhead Road, Turton.
"The total area of land owned by the applicant is 4.5 acres, comprising of agricultural land, domestic curtilage, and driveway.
"There are currently no agricultural buildings or outbuildings at the property.
"The applicant currently maintains the land themselves, using a small tractor and mower, which is stored outside.
"The applicant is seeking planning permission for an agricultural building and small area of hardstanding.
"This is required for storage of machinery including a small digger, tractor, roller and mower. The machinery is to be used for maintaining the land, including fields, ditches and landscaping.
"The proposed building is a modest size, with a footprint of 18.3 metres x 9.3 metres (three 20 foot bays), with 1no roller shutter door to the gable end.
"With a maximum eaves height of 4.5m, ridge of 5.7m and 15 degree pitched roof.
"The building will be constructed with a steel portal frame, concrete / blockwork plinth, with ‘Yorkshire’ boarding above.
"The building is to be located and accessed from the existing passing place, and in the existing field away from the main dwelling.
"This will be accessed through the existing field gate.
"The building will be screened from the neighbouring property and Broadhead Road, by the existing tree line."
A decision will be made by planners in due course.
