Superhero and sci-fi fans can look forward to Blackburn hosting the annual Comic Con at Blackburn Rover's Ewood Park on Sunday, September 24.

Blackburn Comic Con is organised by Wonky Rockets Events, which is the team behind some of the most successful comic events in the North West.

Some of the film and media stars who will be attending include actor Stefan Kapicic, who plays Colossus in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, Hugh Spight, puppeteer in Star Wars Return of the Jedi, Michelle Fox from Casualty, Mark Ryan, voice of Bumblebee in the Transformers movie franchise, and Jimmy Vee, an actor in Doctor Who.

Neil Livesey, co-organiser of the event, said: "I look forward to all our events, but Blackburn is one of my favourites because I'm from the area.

"I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I've attended conventions myself, so I thought it would be great to have something similar in the North West.

"One of the things we love about the Comic Con is the effort people put into the costumes.

"For the last couple of years we have done a cosplay competiton where the first prize is £100."

Blackburn local Tim Perkins, a comic artist who has drawn for Marvel and DC, will also be attending, with many more stars to be revealed.

The conventions have been enjoyed by tens of thousands of people and the company has more than 12 years experience organising events and an in depth understanding of the market.

Wonky Rockets Events also hold comic cons in Stockport, Carlisle, Preston and St Helens.

Neil added: "As well as stars and comic artists attending, there will be props from the movies and movie vehicles parked outside of Ewood Park, with more than 20 stalls selling various merchandise and memoribilla.

"Ewood Park really wanted the event to be hosted there and they are really amazing hosts for our events."

Early bird tickets are priced at £12 per adult and £6 per child, and under fours can enter for free

Tickets can be found at the Wonky Rockets Events website.
