Taken in 1988, this photo shows the exterior of the former Globe Cinema in Padiham after proposals were put forward to reopen it as an entertainment centre.
The building on Mill Street had operated as a cinema until around 1930, then becoming a concert hall and even hosting wrestling.
In 1988, the owners of the company which ran the Studio cinema in Burnley put forward plans to reopen the Globe as a cinema.
The proposals included restoring a cinema organ to the building and creating a 920 seat venue which would show films but could also be used live shows.
But a stalemate between the building owners and the potential operators meant that the plans never came to fruition and the site would later be converted into commercial units receiving the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in 1992.
