A MAN who went on a debt recovery mission with his partner ended up being arrested.

Blackburn magistrates heard Ryan Lourie took matters into his own hands and caused £600 worth of damage to a car before chasing the debtor into her house.

Lourie, 26, of Middlesex Avenue, Burnley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and threatening behaviour. He was made subject to a community order for 24 months with a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. He was also fined £60 and ordered to pay £600 compensation.

Bilal Saeed, prosecuting, said the victim was at home at about 1.30pm when there was a knock on the door. She answered and was confronted by a woman who she knew demanding some money she was owed.

“The victim agreed to pay it back and then saw her car being damaged by the defendant,” said Mr Saeed. “He then chased her back into her house.”

Gareth Price, defending, said Lourie had gone to the house with his partner, who was owed some money.

“The purpose was to sort out the debt and arrange some repayment,” said Mr Price.

“He accepts the situation deteriorated and he damaged the car before chasing her back into the house.”
