A woman from Blackburn is set to take over a Pleasington pub that has been closed since 2021.
The Butlers Arms in Pleasington is set to reopen in October after calling last orders in November 2021.
Julie Panaro is the new licensee alongside George Catterall.
They have a lot of experience in the industry and run The Hospital Inn at Bamber Bridge.
Minor renovations have been carried out at the pub since its closure, including renovations to the exterior and installing a new kitchen.
Julie said she has plans to “restore the pub to its former glory”.
She said: “We’re really excited about reopening The Butlers Arms. It’s a lovely old pub in a beautiful area.
“I’ve known it since I started out in the pub trade aged 19. It’s always had a special place in people’s hearts.
“We want to restore it to its former glory and make it a great pub serving quality food and drinks that are affordable for all. We’re looking forward to welcoming old and new customers when we open the doors.”
A spokesperson for Stars Pubs and Bars, which owns the pub, said: “We don’t have an exact opening date yet but expect The Butlers Arms to reopen in early October.
“We’re delighted to confirm that the new licensees are Julie Panaro and George Catterall.
"They are very experienced and run the highly regarded Hospital Inn at Bamber Bridge. They have exciting plans for The Butlers Arms.
“There is no major refurbishment happening, as the pub is in good order. We’ve undertaken some works whilst it has been closed, including renovations to the exterior and installing a new kitchen, so that The Butlers Arms can maintain its reputation for food.”
Former landlord Michael Hales left the pub in November 2021, citing the effects of the pandemic and soaring costs as the primary reasons.
In the same year the pub hit the headlines Mr Hales closed it temporarily after over-stretched staff hit breaking point over abuse from customers.
