Police received reports about an attempted abduction in a Lancashire town earlier this week.
Officers thoroughly investigated the reported incident believed to have taken place in the Greenfield Road area of Fleetwood on Tuesday (August 8).
They were also aware of social media posts about the alleged attempted abduction.
After speaking to residents and checking CCTV footage, officers are satisfied that ‘no criminal offence has taken place’.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We are aware of reports on social media about an attempted abduction in the Greenfield Road area of Fleetwood on Tuesday afternoon.
“Just to clarify the situation, we can confirm that we did receive a report and this has been thoroughly investigated.
“This includes speaking to a number of individuals and conducting house to house and CCTV enquiries.
“We are now satisfied that no criminal offence has taken place.
“We will always take reports like this extremely seriously. We encourage anyone who believes they are the victim of a crime or anybody who sees anything suspicious in their area to contact the police on 101. In an emergency always call 999.”
