An East Lancashire town centre has been given an escape room-themed trail this month.
Blackburn will host the ten-venue 'Escapade' adventure throughout August.
The attraction has been devised for the Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID) by escape room specialists Lucardo.
The 10-venue puzzle trail through the town centre has clues to solve in each that will lead participants to the next step of their adventure.
It started last Friday and will continue until September 2.
Host locations were selected from the volunteering BID Members and clues were devised by the Rawtenstall-based Lucardo, detailing the journey of ‘Professor Lucardo’ through the escapade.
The first adventurers arrived at the ‘ask me’ point of The Mall shopping centre before 10am on Friday.
Lucardo – which has venues in both Rawtenstall and Manchester – created the bespoke trail to suit Blackburn and keep participants engaged to continue till the end.
Blackburn BID have organised the trail to provide entertainment for local families during the school summer holiday.
The adventure is free and is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday, with one lucky adventurer set to win £150 worth of high street vouchers after the trail has closed.
BID manager, Catherine Price, said: “It’s amazing to see how it has all come to life and we can’t wait to see what people think of the adventure.
“It is something that all of the family can get involved in so we wanted it to take place during the summer holidays so everyone could enjoy it.”
One participant said: “I highly recommend doing this trail.
"It took us approximately one hour but if you wanted it could last as long as you like.
“You get to explore the Blackburn town centre and go to streets and places you might not have ventured before.
"There are child friendly puzzles with a fantastic wooden chest to open each time.
"Grown-ups back off!”
