A nursery in Feniscowles has received its first Ofsted rating after an inspection in July.
Tudor House Day Nursery @ Feniscowles, in Preston Old Road, has been rated ‘good’ in all areas and inspectors praised the school for the quality of education and leadership.
The nursery, which opened in January 2022, was described by the inspectors as a welcoming environment for the pupils.
Inspectors noted children “settle quickly and excitedly hug the staff” when they arrive at the nursery.
The report states: “Staff are attentive as they greet children. They offer sensitive reassurance to children who need additional support to settle.
“Children smile as they sing and sign the names of their friends during the 'welcome song'. They are keen to hold hands with each other while singing 'Row, row, row your boat'.
“Children have strong bonds with the staff and are developing positive relationships with their peers.”
Leaders at the nursery are resourceful with funding and use early years pupil premium well to help “narrow any gaps in children’s development”.
They staff also support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and put additional support in place to promote children’s learning.
Promoting health lifestyles and physical skills is a big focus at the nursery, inspectors also noted.
Their report said: “Children have many opportunities to strengthen their small and large muscles.
"For example, children enjoy rolling, throwing and catching balls with their friends.
“Babies who are learning to walk pull themselves to stand and gleefully take steps towards the staff.
“They have embedded routines to promote children's health, such as regular handwashing and daily toothbrushing.
“They are developing their understanding of what it means to be healthy and how to look after their bodies.”
In order to improve, the inspectors said staff should be more confident with their interactions with children to consistently extend their learning.
Nursery manager, Rachel Jackson, said she is pleased with Tudor House Day Nursery’s first Ofsted report.
She said: “Tudor House has been a fantastic company to work for and we couldn’t have got the outcome we did without their on-going support, along with the team and all their hard work they all put in.
“We are a full new team here at Feniscowles and we are delighted with our Ofsted report.
"The whole day and experience was very positive with plenty of opportunities to share everything we do here at Tudor house.
“I couldn’t wait to share the news with all the staff, and after receiving our report and all the positive feedback our dedicated team are now striving to push the nursery to be outstanding with lots of great plans and ideas.”
