Two Blackburn restaurants have come home victorious from the Asian Restaurant Awards.

Kebabish Original, on Whalley New Road and My Lahore, which has a venue in Blackburn have won awards at the ceremony, which celebrates the UK’s best Asian eateries.

Zen Restaurant, in Lytham St Annes, also won an award for best Thai and Chinese restaurant in the north of England.

Kebabish Original won the best casual dining award. It is the third time in a row that the restaurant has won.

Owners Arif Amin and Zafar Iqbal said: “We are very proud of winning this award. It is always great to be recognised nationally for our achievements.

“To win it for the third year running is amazing.

“However this wouldn't be possible without the support of our customers, so we'd like to thank them.

“We have a great team here at Kebabish and like to thank them for making this award possible.”

The business duo says the restaurant’s “authentic and original” flavours are to thank for the win.

They said: “Our food from the beginning has always been authentic and original.

“These days a lot of thought and time is given to presentation and dressing of dishes rather than flavour itself all because we live in a world of social media.

“We have always maintained that flavour, consistency is key and the food should speak for itself.”

My Lahore, which has venues in Leeds, Bradford, Birmingham and Blackburn, won an award for best Asian fusion restaurant.

The awards were held at the Hilton Manchester Piccadilly on Monday, July 31.

Addressing an audience of more than 500 of the country’s leading Asian restaurant owners, chefs and local dignitaries praised the industry’s response in adapt to "fresh culinary ideas" and their "willingness to embrace the more discerning needs of the public."
