The winners of the Great Taste Awards have been announced and products from six East Lancashire businesses have made the list.

From flavoursome beef bourguignon to a dish that was praised by two celebrity chefs, these products have been given the stamp of approval by a top team of tasters.

The awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards.

Whalley-based frozen food manufacturer, Breda Murphy, won awards for two of its products.

Its bread and butter pudding was given two stars and its beef bourguignon, and tea brack, was awarded one star.

Owner Breda said: “I am absolutely thrilled to pick up three awards especially with this being our first year of entering.

“This has come at a great time as we have just moved into purpose-built facilities on Mitton Road Business Park and we have lots of new and exciting dishes coming on board soon.

“Thank you to all our team, loyal customers and of course the judges.”

Burnley-based Haffners also won two one star Great Taste Awards.

Judges described its meat and onion pie as “very attractive and well-cooked with an appetising golden finish.”

Ted Cockett, Haffners’ managing director, said: “We’re really chuffed to have won such prestigious industry awards for our pork pie and meat and onion pie.

“It’s the first Great Taste awards we’ve entered as new Haffner owners and to know that the quality of Burnley’s finest pies has been maintained under our watch is fantastic.

“We won an award for our meat and potato pie at the British Pie Awards earlier this year, so that makes a hat trick of accolades in our first year as owners."

Rawtenstall's Stinky Chef Deli was praised for its Stinky Bomba, which was awarded two stars.

A spokesperson said: "We are delighted with the news that we have been awarded two stars for our outstanding Stinky Bomba.

"The product is popular in Rossendale - hopefully now we can share this versatile sauce with a larger audience."

The Parkers Arms, in Newton-in-Bowland won an award, for a product that was praised by the Hairy Bikers.

Its 'curried mutton and its offal’ pie was awarded two stars.

Chef-patron Stosi Madi said: "We are delighted that our signature pie has won.

"It won gold in the Great British pie awards and now it has been given a Great Taste Award. The Hairy Bikers also loved it. We are proud of our pie."

Mawdesley-based Choc Amor won four awards.

Paul Williams, head chocolatier, said: “We honestly considered not entering the Great Taste awards this year but thankfully had a last minute change of heart!

“Three two star awards and one star is the best news ever and we are blown away.  It’s always joyful to get good feedback from our customers but winning these awards is further reassurance that we’re doing it right.”

Three products from Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses Limited, in Inglewhite, were given awards.

Matthew Hall, fourth-generation owner at Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses said: “Having the iconic black and gold Great Taste logo on even more of our award-winning cheeses shows just how exciting British cheesemaking is at the moment.

"The Great Taste Awards logo is recognised and respected by people who love quality food and drink and is a powerful on-pack marker for more people to find and explore British farmhouse cheese, made here in Lancashire.

"We’re particularly pleased to have won Great Taste awards for our hard, blue and soft cheeses, with judges calling Blacksticks ‘a crowd pleaser’ and awarding two-stars, following its one-star award in 2021.

"Parlick, our newest hard sheep’s milk cheese and Button Mill, our creamy soft British brie are also new Great Taste winners - the perfect cheeseboard combination!

"We now have five cheeses proudly displaying the Great Taste logo and it’s all down to our team - our extended family - who are driving the British cheese renaissance and putting their heart and soul into making, packing and selling our cheese every single day.”
