Drivers in and around Blackburn with Darwen will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures are due to start over the next two weeks.

They are:

• M65, from 8pm July 31 to 6am October 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 both directions M65 junction one to M65 junction eight - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M65, from 8pm August 3 to 5am August 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M65 eastbound, junction three - four lane closures due to maintenance.

• M65, from 9pm August 9 to 5am August 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound and westbound, junction six - five - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• M65, from 9pm August 10 to 5am August 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 westbound and eastbound, junction five to four - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M65, from 9pm August 11 to 5am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound and westbound, junction five to four - carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M65, from 9pm August 12 to 5am August 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound and westbound, junction three to four lane closures and carriageway closures due to general maintenance works.

• M65, from 8pm August 14 to 6am August 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound, junction six - slip road closure for barriers - permanent.

• M65, from 9pm August 14 to 5am August 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M65 eastbound and westbound, junction three to junction two - carriageway closure for horticultural works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
