Taken in 1975, this photo shows Brockhall Hospital which was undergoing some major changes at the time with many of the large wards at the hospital being divided into smaller areas for residents.
The hospital in Langho was built in 1904 as ‘an institution for inebriate women’ and would become home for residents with mental health issues.
It was closely associated with nearby Calderstones and in 1992 Brockhall closed. Much of the land it occupied would be taken over by housing.
