Three Blackburn-made professional footballers are to play England at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which kicked off earlier this week.
The Lionesses, who are in group D for the tournament, will have their first match today (July 22) when they play Haiti at 10.30am.
England will also take on Denmark on Friday, July 28, at 9.30am.
The final group game, when England will take on China, is set to be shown on August 1, at 12pm.
The England team are hoping to continue their winning streak, after winning the Euros in 2022.
Three key Lionesses, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone, began their careers at Blackburn Rovers.
Georgia, 24, started her career at Blackburn Rovers where she played through the youth system.
She eventually played six games for Rovers Ladies in 2014/15 before joining Manchester City in 2015, making her senior debut for them at just 16-years-old.
She currently plays for German giants Bayern Munich.
Ella, 23, played at both junior and senior level for Blackburn Rovers between 2013-2017, making 20 appearances and scoring 13 goals while still a teenager.
She briefly joined Manchester City before moving to Manchester United’s senior team in 2018, and had been a regular in England women's age-group squads before breaking into the senior side.
Former Haslingden High School pupil Keira Walsh, completed her youth training at Blackburn Rovers but, as with her England team mates, was picked up by Manchester City in 2014.
She now plays as a midfielder for Barcelona.
The girls all trained under the management of Gemma Donelly while at Rovers who took over the club on a temporary basis halfway through the 2013 season.
ITV will show coverage of half of the tournament’s matches across ITV1 and ITV4 with simulcast and catchup on ITVX.
Match highlights will also be on ITVX as well as ITV's social media platforms.
