A McDonald’s in Preston has reopened after undergoing a refurbishment.
The fast food restaurant at the Capitol Centre Retail Park has reopened after a restaurant redesign, which promises to deliver a better customer experience for all.
The site closed for three weeks starting Tuesday, June 27.
Owned and operated by local franchisee, Nigel Dunnington, the Preston restaurant is one of the first ‘Convenience of the Future’ branches to open in the region.
With consumers increasingly looking for greater speed, efficiency and choice when ordering their food, McDonald’s ‘convenience of the future’ restaurant revamp programme will combine a new restaurant layout with the latest technology to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.
Improvements have been made for staff, including their break spaces. A redesign of the crew rooms will create a more relaxing and comfortable space for crew to take a well-deserved break.
Nigel Dunnington who owns and operates 17 McDonald’s restaurants in Lancashire, said: “I am pleased to reopen the Capitol Centres retail park McDonald’s following its short closure.
“It’s sensible to reinvest in the restaurant giving the same contemporary dining area for our customers who ‘eat inside’ the restaurant as well as a separate courier entrance for delivery drivers.
“We are thrilled to see the modern and innovative new look restaurant in action benefiting our customers and staff to make a more efficient process for all involved”.
While the traditional walk-in and Drive-Thru remain core to how our customers order, the redesign of McDonald’s kitchens and dining areas as part of convenience of the future will better integrate digital sales channels, the McDonald’s App and make smarter use of internal space to enhance the dine in experience.
With dedicated areas for the different ways to order, along with the removal of the front counters, the revamp will offer a more efficient way to order and will leave customers with more space to enjoy their meal.

Our customers rightly expect to have choice in how and where they order and collect their food, and our job is to ensure that every experience is a great one. In 2022, McDonald’s introduced Convenience of the Future upgrades in 200 restaurants, with 800 planned over the next four years. The upgrades will continue to evolve with new innovations launching throughout the next four years.
