A 'family-friendly' free musical event is set to take place in Chorley for the first time in six years.
Jordan and Esther Wilford and Charly and Lawrence Hunt performed in the British Pageant in 2017. Now their young children are part of the five hundred plus group of volunteers bringing live theatre and costume drama to Chorley.
Jordan and Esther Wilford sang and danced in earlier performances which celebrates the British contributions to Christianity and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the mid-nineteenth century.
Their two children aged two years and almost one year, are now part of the cast.
Jordan and Esther Wilford said, "We are so excited to share in this experience together as a family.
"The stories of love, sacrifice, and truth found in the British Pageant have truly enriched our lives. We cannot wait to share these stories with all those who come and see."
Lawrence and Charly Hunt performed in the 2013 and 2017 and have now added their two children to the show.
Lawrence said, “The British Pageant is a wonderful opportunity to engage with our history. Participating in the pageant lets me feel a sense of that history. The chance to share the history of my faith with my community, one to be seized with both hands.”
Through music, song, dance, and re-enactments, the audience will learn of the ‘sacrifices and commitments’ of early UK citizens to the faith.
President of the British Pageant 2023, Craig T Wright envisions is hopes audiences will find the show a ‘rousing, uplifting and life-changing experience’.
Prior to the performances, theatregoers can also participate in an interactive country fair of games and activities of the early 1800’s.
The British Pageant will be performed on the Preston Temple grounds in Chorley on Wednesday 2nd – Saturday 5th, and Tuesday 8th – Saturday 12th August 2023.
This show is set to be attended by people from all over the country.
