The fire service was called to a derelict building fire in Blackburn.

At around 8.48pm, on Tuesday, July 11, two fire engines were called to Hollin Bridge Street.

Firefighters used one hose reel, one positive pressure ventilation unit and a thermal imaging camera to put the fire out.

Crews were in attendance for an hour and 25 minutes.

It is not the first time this month that the fire service has been called to the street.

On July 5, four engines from Hyndburn, Blackburn and Darwen put out a fire which broke out on the ground floor of a derelict building

A fire service spokesperson said: “At 8.48pm on July 11, two fire engines from Blackburn attended a derelict building fire on Hollin Bridge Street, Blackburn.

“Firefighters used one hose reel, one positive pressure ventilation unit, and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

“They were in attendance for an hour and 25 minutes.”
